KATHUA, Feb 13: Bharat Bhushan, Mehar Singh Attri and Janu Sharma emerged fastest runners securing sprint gold in open, under-20 and under-18 age groups in the two-day District Kathua Athletics Championship held under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletics Association at Sports Stadium, here today.
Among the female Athletes, budding Sharnya impressed with her double gold in under-16, 100 meters and under-18 year 200 meters events. She was one of the few participants who contested in spikes.
Vice Chairman of DDC Kathua, Raghunandan Singh (Bablu) was chief guest, who presented certificates among winners and complimented the Athletes for winning different positions. Over 100 Athletes turned up for the competition in field and track events, whereas Riyaz Ahmed, Jai Kumar, Lal Singh, Ravi Kumar Jassal, Kewal Singh and Mahavir Parsad were among technical panel.
In men open category, Bharat Bhushan, Rahul Fotra and Ankush Kumar remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in 100 mtrs, whereas in 200 mtrs, Ankush Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Bharat Bhushan stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in 800 mtrs, top three positions were secured by Pinkay Kumar, Rahul Kumar and Varun Dev respectively besides in 1500 mtrs, Bhushan Kumar, Noon and Vishal Kumar stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 5000 mtrs, Manohar Lal, Sunny Singh and Gourav Kumar secured top three positions and in 400 mtrs, Pankaj Sharma, Ram Murtiand Divyansh Gupta bagged top three positions respectively. In long jump, top three positions were secured by Happy Kumar, Manohar Lal, and Bhushan Singh respectively.
In under-20 categroy, Mehar Singh Attri, Sahil Singh and Tarun Sharma stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in 100 mtrs, whereas in 1500 mtrs, Tarun Kumar, Vishal Sarmal and Paras Dogra clinched top three positions respectively and in 400 mtrs, Tarun Kumar, Mohd Yaseen and Sahil Singh bagged top three positions besides in3000 mtrs, Arun Kumar, Pinkay Kumar and Akash Sharma remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
In 800 mtrs, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were won by Sachin Kumar, Zakir Hussain and Dimple Kumar, while in long jump, Kamal Singh, Mehar Singh Attri and Aryan Andotra stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in Shot Put, Ashik Hussain, Sadam Hussainand Mohd Yaseen bagged top three positions respectively.
In under-18 years, Janu Sharma, Rahul Slathia and Ritik Sharma secured top three positions respectively in 100 mtrs, whereas in 400 mtrs, Saif Din, Charanjeet Bhagat and Himanshu stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, in 800 mtrs, Aditya Singh, Ganesh Singh and Harjeet Singh remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in 1500 mtrs, Ritik Sharma, Gangesh Singhand Rahul Slathia clinched top three positions besides in long jump, Mohd Rafiq, Saif Din and Anmol Kumar secured top three positions respectively.
In under-16 years category, Dheeraj Billowria, Kamaljeet Bhagat and Nikhal Singh shined in 300 mtrs by securing top three positions, whereas in 800 mtrs, Kaka Din, Vansh Kumar and Kamaljeet Bhagat remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in long jump, Aman Singh, Vikrant Singh and Bagh Hussain clinched top three positions respectively.
In under-14 years category, Danish Sajad, Rahul Sharma and Abhinav Singh stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in 60 mtrs, whereas in 600 mtrs, Pankaj Singh, Rahul Sharma and Surya Partap Singh bagged top three positions and Dheeraj Billowaria, Aman Singh and Nikhal Singh also remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 600 mtrs category besides in long jump, Danish Sajad, Pankaj Singh and Arbaz Ahmed won top three positions respectively.
In girls open category, Kanchan Devi, Renu Devi and Anu Devi stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in 200 mtrs, whereas in shot put, Anu Devi, Renu Devi and Palvi Devi bagged top three positions respectively and in under-20 years long jump, Kanchan Devi, Sakshi and Akriti Dhanwal remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively besides in shot put, Akriti and Sakshi bagged 1st and 2nd places.
In long jump, Kanchan Devi, Shakshi and Akriti Dhanwal bagged top three positions respectively, in under-14 years, Naysa Singh, Shamana Akhtar and Sania bagged top three positions respectively in 600 mtrs besides in under-16 years category, Shranya, Naysa Singh and Mannat Sharma secured top three positions in100 mtrs and in under-18 years, Shranya, Mannat Sharma and Palvi Devi shined in 200 mtrs by securing top three positions respectively.
