DIG Central Kashmir inaugurates Cosco Ball tournament

BUDGAM, July 6: A 12 over Cosco Ball tournament was today inaugurated by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Central Kashmir Range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, at District Police Lines (DPL) Budgam.
The tournament is being organized in a bid to improve the Police-Public relations in the district.
The tournament, which will be played on knockout basis, has 64 teams from district Budgam and Srinagar participating in it.
The inaugural match of the tournament was today played between Star Boys Bagwanpora and Sheikh-ul-Alam, Sheikhpora. Sheikh-ul-Alam turned out to be the victorious team in the first match of the tournament.
Batting first, the Sheikh-ul-Alam team scored 94 in 12 overs while Star Boys were bundled out for a meagre total of 69 runs.
Live scores of the match can be seen on an android based application named, ‘cricheroes’.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Mohammad Haroon; SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh; Commanding Officer (CO) of CRPF’s 43 Bn. Vinod Karthak; Additional SP Budgam Amod Ashok Nagpure; DSP Budgam Mir Rasheeq and the captains of all the participating teams.
The young cricketers and team captains present at the venue applauded the role of police in organizing such sports events to promote the sporting talent of the youth in the district.
