SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh today inaugurated T-20 Police Premier League Ganderbal and dedicated the tournament to martyr Constable Mohammad Altaf Hussain, today.
The event is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its civic action programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP paid rich tribute to the martyr Constable Altaf Hussain and said that whole police pariwar is proud of his sacrifice as he fought till his last breath and set an example of bravery and responsibility. He said Jammu and Kashmir Police will provide all possible support to the family of the martyr.
The DGP appreciated the efforts of SSP Ganderbal and his team for organizing the event and said that Police Headquarters would provide all possible support for channelizing the energy of youth towards the positive direction. “Aim of organizing cricket tournaments across Kashmir is to spot talent and prepare two teams each in South, North and Central Kashmir and finally a top ‘Kashmir Eleven Team’ out of these six teams,” he said.
The DGP advised the youth to follow their dreams and work as messengers of peace for Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP said that during the period of disturbance Kashmir lost a lot but this is the time when we all have to work together to bring back the lost glory of Kashmir.
“Youth has power for change and they should use their energy in positive activities so that peaceful and prosperous J&K is realised where there would be no place for destruction,” Singh said, adding that the youth should stay away from drugs as it not only disturbs the family life but society as well,” Singh added.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DC Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, CO 115 Bn CRPF Pankaj Peter Shah, CO 118 Bn Anil Kumar Dhayni and others officers were also present during the event.
