DG Sports inaugurates JKCA’s Jammu District Tourney

JAMMU, Apr 28: Director General Youth Services and Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman inaugurated the JKCA’s Jammu District Tournament in an impressive and well attended function at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
He was accompanied by Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member Judicial State Human Rights Commission and Member JKCA alongwith Coordinating Committee of the tournament including Gyaneshwar Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Sarveshwar Singh, Shubham and Rajesh Dhar.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, while lavishing praise for the organisers, especially, Mr Jang Bahadur, said that sports and games apart from physical, mental and moral development, inculcates discipline and sportsman spirit among the players.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Jang Bahadur Singh in his typical poetic style stressed upon the players to do their best and Almighty will take care of the rest.
In the inaugural tie, Patel Cricket Club defeated Kiwi Cricket Club by 8 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, Kiwi Club scored a modest total of 135 runs in 20 overs. Surinder top scored with 64 runs, while Vikas contributed 24 runs to the total. From Patel Club, Nityam took 2 wickets, while Sanchit claimed one wicket.
In reply, Patel Club chased the target easily in 17.2 overs by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. Raghav Sharma top scored with 62 runs, while contributed 43 to the total. Vikas and Gulshan shared one wicket each from Kiwi Club.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and Sadiq Hussain Malik as umpires, while Ashok Singh was the scorer.
