JAMMU, Feb 24: Government Degree College Poonch organized a function to celebrate annual day, today.
Brig S K Acharya, Commander 93 Inf. Brigade was the chief guest, Brig N R Indurkar, Commander 6-Sector RR graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and Sajad Ahmed Khan (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Poonch was the chairperson.
Speaking on the occasion Sajad Ahmed Khan, Brig S K Acharya, Commander 93 Inf. Brigade, guest of honour, Brig N R Indurkar, Commander 6-Sector RR appreciated the efforts of the college administration in taking keen interest in creating the desired opportunities for the students to display their talent and sharpen their skills.
On this occasion a glittering programme comprising of Group Songs, Ghazals, Saif-ul-Malook, Qawali, Gidda, Bhangra was also presented by the student. The audience was spell bound by the electrifying performance of the students. The prizes and Awards were given to the outstanding performers in the field of Academics, Sports, Co-curricular activities.
The college News Letter “Aaeena” depicting the activities undertaken during the current academic session was also released by the dignitaries on this occasion.
Prof M H Shah Coordinator IQAC gave welcome address, Prof Tajinder Singh, Principal, Degree College Poonch read out college annual report and Dr Aurangzeb Anjum, staff secretary extended vote of thanks.
Prominent among those who received the prizes were Ghulam Mustafa, Masood Azhar, Tazeem Akhter in debates. Abhishek Dutta and Nimranjeet Kour outstanding NSS volunteers, J P Singh (SUO), Nandan Sharma (SUO) outstanding cadets. Navjot Singh, Chandi Sharma, Karandeep Singh and Nandan Sharma were awarded for outstanding performance in Sports. Parul Sharma, Navleen Kour, Rasleen Kour, Divya Chakshu Sudan, Rohina Hafiz, Farheen Akhter, Parveen Akhter, Farheen Shabir were awarded for outstanding performance in cultural activities.
