Deepika, Nivedita, Sarika emerge winners in ‘Literature Festival’

JAMMU, Sept 1: Department of English, Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and A Constituent Colleges of Cluster University organized series of literary activities under “Literature Festival 2020” on creative writing in the present scenario on both national and international platforms.
The first event organized was Short Story Writing on the topics Long Journey is interrupted by a small disaster, domestic violence during COVID-19, Rigid Teacher versus creative teacher, Freedom from debirs in word, thought and action and a character wakes up knowing a new language but forgets his mother tongue.
More than 85 participants from all over India participated and best 10 positions were given e-certificates.
The event was organized under the patronage of Prof (Dr) Sangita Nagari, Principal of the college.
Dr Suman Charak Jamwal, HOD, English convened the event.
The organizing committee comprised Prof Shakun Mahajan, Prof Neelam Thapa, Prof Chetna Mahajan, Dr. Nidhi Chouhdary, Dr Kiran Kalra, and Prof Suman Bala, all from the Department of English.
The event was adjudged by Prof Geetanjali Multani, HOD, English, GCW Parade, Jammu.
Dr Nalini Pathania, HOD (Eng), Government MAM College, Jammu (JKUT) and Dr Reena Salaria, Coordinator Linguistics and Languages, Government MAM College Jammu on the parameters of Language Expression, Clarity and originality.
Out of the best 10 positions, Deepika Shrivastava, Department of English and Modern Languages, University of Lucknow bagged first position, Nivedita Rohmetra, MA English Literature, Sem IV, University of Jammu and Sarika, BA, KVA, DAV College for Women, Karnal, Haryana bagged second and third positions respectively.
The Principal of the college emphasized upon the youth to exercise their acumen by exploring their writing talent.
