JAMMU, Jan 27: District Development Council (DDC) Member Surankote, Shahnawaz Choudhary called upon Commissioner/ Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs and Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez and submitted a memorandum regarding construction of Indoor and Outdoor Stadium near ITI Surankote.
He also appealed to Commissioner/ Secretary to develop Surankote as tourist destination.
The DDC member apprised the Commissioner/ Secretary that the land for the supposed outdoor stadium was also identified by him with the help of local administration and discussed the project with J&K Sports Council.
The Commissioner/ Secretary assured a positive reciprocation from his side to the DDC member. Shahnawaz while pressing their demands cited the positive impact of the stadium on the society especially on youth to keep them away from the anti-social activities.
He said that Surankote has a huge tourism potential but due to unknown reasons, it has been neglected by the previous dispensations for many years. He also submitted a list of beautiful places before the Commissioner/ Secretary which needs to be developed including Jabbi, Gali, Jammu Shaheed, Osi Dana, Suranthal, Dana Shastar, Ranjati, Dehar, Hill Kaka and seven Lakes near Peer Ki Gali.
