Day of ‘Ss’ as Sameer, Sahil, Shashi help teams to register big wins

JAMMU, June 7: It was the day of the players whose names begin with alphabet ‘S’ as former First Class Cricketer, Sameer Khajuria, T20 Specialist, Sahil Bhalwal and former Ranji Trophy Player, Shashi Kumar helped Laxmi Cricket Club, National Cricket Club (NCC) and Simula Cricket Club to register convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing Simula T20 Super League, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
The League in which ten premier teams namely JCC, NCC, Simula, Shastri, RCC Srinagar, J&K Sports Promoters Club, KCCC, KC Sports Club, Singh Cricket Club and Laxmi CC are participating is being organized by Simula Global Group of Companies and Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association and supported by JK Channel.
The organizing committee headed by Hilal Rather, MD Simula Group, while  the committee members include Desh Rattan Dubey, Joint Secretary JKCA, Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA, Anshuman Sharma, Mohit Puri, Atul, Vivek Thapa, Vikram Singh, Shashi, Beant Singh and Vishal. Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy Player is the Coordinator of the event.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Laxmi Club defeated J&K Sports Promoters Club by 8 runs.
Batting first, Laxmi Cricket Club scored 141 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Santbaksh (36), Sameer Khajuria (24) and Ashu (23) were the main scorers.
For J&K Promoters Club, Rompy was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 wickets, while RK Bhat claimed 1 wicket.
J&K Sports Promoters Club, in reply, made 133 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs. Pankaj Lada top scored with 37 runs, while Farooq Ahmad (30) and Balwan Singh (24) were the other contributors.
For Laxmi Club, Sameer Khajuria was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets, while Ashu bagged 2 wickets and Monu claimed one. Sameer Khajuria was adjudged as the man of the match and was awarded with Rs 1000 as cash prize.
In the second match, NCC defeated KCCC by 9 wickets.
Batting first, KCCC bundled out for a paltry total of 76 runs in 15.2 overs. Wicketkeeper batsman, Raman Thaploo top scored with 24 runs, while Sahil Lotra contributed 18 runs.
For NCC, Vijay Dogra, Sahil Bhalwal and Inderjeet Singh took 3 wickets each, while Ankush claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, NCC achieved the target in 9.4 overs for the loss of 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Manish Dogra top scored with 37 runs, while Sahil Bhalwal and Amritpal Singh contributed 21 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
For KCCC, Manik took the lone wicket to fall. Sahil Bhalwal was adjudged as the man of the match with a cash prize of Rs.1000.
In another match, Simula Cricket Club defeated KC Sports Club by 7 wickets.
Batting first, KC Sports Club scored a fighting total of 123 runs in 18 overs.  Ateev Saini played a brilliant innings of 65 runs, while Abhishant  contributed 47 runs to the total. For Simula, Raman Dutta took 3 wickets.
In reply, Simula Club achieved the target in 14.3 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Shashi top scored with 40 runs, while Hardeep Singh made 31 runs and Atul chipped in with 11 runs.
For KC Sports Club, Devvatsh took 2 wickets, while Vishal claimed 1 wicket.
Shashi was adjudged as the man of the match and was presented a cash prize of Rs.1000.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Amit Gupta, Madan Mohan, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod Kandayara.
