Cultural prog for jail inmates organized

KATHUA, Apr 9: With an aim to ease stress of the inmates of District Jail Kathua, besides providing them healthy environment, the Cultural Wing of State Information Department and the Prisons Department on Wednesday organized a composite cultural programme in the premises of the District Jail Kathua.
Superintendent District Jail Kathua, Saroop Chand; Assistant Superintendent of the Jail, Sayeed Sagar Adil; Cultural Officer, Information Department, Raman Joshi and other dignitaries from JKP, CRPF including Jail inmates in large numbers witnessed the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent District Jail Kathua said that jail inmates are part and parcel of civil society, adding that such programmes not only ease stress of jail inmates, but also provide them platform for showcasing their hidden talent.
The artists of Information Department also presented a scintillating performance which enthralled the inmates. These artists included Jeevan Sharma, Vijay Anand, Sunil Sharma, Kamal Kumar, Bodh Raj, Nidhi Kaila and Zulikha Farid.
During the 2-hour long cultural programme, the inmates and employees of the jail also showcased their skills in dance, skit and music.
