JAMMU, Sept 27: Registering resounding victories over their rivals in the first round, seven cueists made it to the second round of Senior Snooker in the ongoing 22nd Jammu District Open Junior and Senior Billiards and Snooker Championship, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall in MA Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, Vishal Abrol trounced Aman Mahajan (3-1) by (23-49, 63-19, 52-06, 77-16) in an easy contest. After losing the first set, Vishal came back strongly to win the next three sets easily.
Meanwhile, Ankit Gupta registered a narrow win over almost equally strong Rahul Jamwal (3-2) by (67-32, 55-60,69-21, 55-62, 69-36) in a close contest, while Kashif got walkover against Anurag Mahajan to advance in the tournament.
Dheeraj Goswami got better of Vishal Kohli (3-2) by (37-35, 42-26, 37-63, 48-55, 58-57) in a tough contest. Dheeraj won the first two sets by a narrow margin and lost the other two and won the decider in a thriller by (58-57).
Meanwhile, ace cueist, Sumesh Turki thrashed Shivam Gupta (3-0) by (67-12, 75-21, 71-27) in a onesided affair. Satyajeet also advanced into the second round by defeating Sunny (3-0) by (56-52, 66-36, 52-38), while Amarjeet Singh blanked Gurdev Singh (3-0) by (68-33, 50-35, 61-24).
According to the organizers the matches of the first round would continue tomorrow at the same venue.
