Clinical RCC Srinagar thrashes KCSC Seniors to face KCSC Juniors in Qfs

JAMMU, July 16: Team effort helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar to thrash KC Sports Club Seniors in an easy contest by 39 runs to emerge topper of their pool and will lock horns with KC Sports Club Juniors in the quarterfinal of the ongoing KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup, being played at newly laid turf at KC School ground, here.
Earlier, skipper of RCC Srinagar Puneet Wattal won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, RCC Srinagar scored a modest total of 115 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process on a wicket that seemed to be bowling friendly. After a bad start by the top order batsmen, Ahtsham and Akash Raina played sensibly and were instrumental in taking the score to a respectable total. Ahtsham top scored with magnificent 39 runs, studded with 2 sixes, while Akash contributed valuable 38 runs to the total, hitting 2 massive sixes. Manish Dogra also chipped in with 15 runs. From KC Sports Club Seniors, Abhishant Bakshi was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, including a brilliant hat-trick, while left-arm spinners Vijay Dogra and Aman Sharma bagged 2 wickets each. Left-arm seamer, Vishal Rana also claimed one wicket.
In reply, RCC Srinagar bowlers bowled in right areas from the word go and took the wickets at regular intervals to bundle out KCSC Seniors for a paltry total of 76 runs in 16 overs, thus helping their side to win the match by 39 runs. Vijay Dogra was the top scorer with 23 runs, while Sachin and Aman contributed 12 and 7 runs to the total respectively. From RCC Srinagar, Rahul Mussa, Shiv Dutt and Manjeet Singh captured 3 wickets each, while Pranav Mahajan claimed one wicket. Ahtsham was declared as the man of the match for his valuable knock. President RCC Srinagar, Chaman Lal Suri lauded the efforts of the players for toping the pool and sealing berth in the finals.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Madan Lal as umpires, while Vinod Kandayara was the scorer.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Director of KC Sports Club, while the matches are being supervised by Sanjeev Kant Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the event.
