JAMMU, Nov 16: General Dalbir Singh, the Chief of the Army Staff honoured Miss Tajamul Islam, student of Class II of Army Goodwill School, Bandipora nd winner of Gold Medal in World Sub Junior Kickboxing Championship at South Block, New Delhi today.
She won the gold medal in the Championship which was held in Italy, after beating her American opponent. The child prodigy won six bouts to lift the Championship in her category.
The COAS praised the grit and determination of the girl who has made the nation proud and hoped that her success would inspire other children of the Valley. Miss Tajamul expressed her joy on meeting the Army Chief.
The young talent was spotted aand initially nurtured by the Army Goodwill School, Bandipora. Tajamul had started her journey in the Kickboxing World  by winning Gold Medal in the State Level Championship held at Jammu in 2015. She thereafter won gold medal in Sub Junior Category in 2015 National Kickboxing Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.
