Chess Festival begins at Bandipora, Kupwara

BANDIPORA, Mar 29: The competitions of mega Chess Festival got underway at Bandipora and Kupwara today, while the final matches and training sessions continued in Shopian district where enthusiasm among the youth is very high.
This Festival is being sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council and was initiated by Secretary J&K State sports Council, Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary.
The Festival is being held under the guidance of Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA and being managed and organized by Ashiq Ahmad Kolu and all the members of Kashmir division and district bodies. About 10,000 players throughout the Valley are taking part in trainings and events in all the 10 districts at different venues.
A total cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 and 240 medals will be distributed among the winners of this Festival.
Srinagar district events will start tomorrow along with other districts.
The events will be held up to March 31, 2019.
