SAMBA, July 7: Chandan Football Club clinched the title of the 2nd Under-16 Thalora Football Tournament Season 2 by defeating Army Public School Samba by 2-0 in the final match held at Thalora Mandi Sports Ground, here today.
The first half of the match ended goalless, with both teams showing strong defense. However, Chandan Football Club dominated the second half. Shubham and Aniket scored one goal each, sealing a well-deserved victory for the host team. Shubham was later declared the Best Player of the Tournament.
The tournament featured a total of 10 teams from Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts. The event aimed to promote grassroots football and provide young athletes a platform to showcase their talent.
Mohinder Singh, Ex-Chairman of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank and senior leader of the National Conference, was the chief guest. He distributed prizes among the winners and runner-up teams and also felicitated Coach Aman Singh Sambyal for his efforts in organizing the tournament.
While addressing the players, Singh encouraged youth participation in sports and called for more such tournaments for younger children to nurture future talent. Prominent persons present included Varinder Singh Lucky (Former Sarpanch), Swami Avadharam Das Maharaj, Subhash Singh, Gautam Singh, Vijay Singh, Om Singh, Balbir Singh and Keshav Singh.
