JAMMU, Sept 28: Terming the task of hosting matches in Jammu challenging, Curator, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Daljit Singh, who also happens to be the chairman grounds and pitches committee said that there are still two weeks left to prepare the grounds and make them playable.
“Though the matches were previously scheduled to be shifted to Punjab due to ongoing tussle between two JKCA bodies but we were informed by the BCCI 4-days ago about the final schedule as per which one of the bodies agreed to host the matches in J&K,” Mr Daljeet said.
Asserting that the ground is ready in Srinagar and some hard work is needed to prepare the ground in Jammu, BCCI appointed curator said that hi-tech machinery for ground maintenance available with JKCA can make all the difference.
In a question as to which of the two factions of JKCA will be organizing the matches, Mr Daljeet said that he was not here to observe factions but to inspect grounds only.
“I am here to inspect grounds not to witness factionalism. However, it has been learnt that there are two factions and the matter is with the court. Let the court decide. BCCI is for promoting cricket and cricketers,” expressed Daljeet.
He said that JKCA officials are ready to put its best efforts and make the grounds playable.
“In the aftermath of 2014 flash floods, maximum damage has been done to the fields in both the regions due to which outfield is a bit slow but pitches are good,” he asserted.
