JAMMU, Apr 4: Saraswati Sangeet Kala Mandir (SSKM) organized first programme of the series “Chaand-Sitare, Choone Do”, featuring the budding music artists in an impressive manner at Government Women College Parade.
Anjali Sharma, Incharge Director, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu, was the chief guest while Prof Hemla Aggrawal, Principal, Government Women College, Parade presided over the function.
In her address Anjali Sharma, said that Saraswati Sangeet Kala Mandir (SSKM) is one of the premier institutions of the State, established in 1949 and is dedicated to the promotion of Indian Classical Music both vocal as well as instrumental.
She also underlined the need for preservation and promotion of classical music as it is an integral part of rich cultural heritage.
Sharma further said that, the series “Chaand Sitare Choone Do”, shall provide a suitable platform to the budding artist to display their creative pursuits and hoped that the lesser known artist of today, shall be definitely touching new horizons tomorrow.
Prof Hemla Aggrawal in her presidential remarks eulogized the endeavour of SSKM in initiating this series.
The programme was conceived and designed by Ravi Sharma, noted Music Composer and Santoor Player.
The programme started with a memorable Classical Fusion Performance by Saptak Band. The artists of the band are Rohit on Santoor, Karan on Tabla, Robin on Percussion and Sumit on Zetar.
The budding artists who performed in the programme are Saanvi Anand, Sanchita, Gori Dachit, Anjali Sharma, Shifali, Ekta, Meet Kaur, Pardeep Kaur, Sunandini Jamwal, Harshit Sharma, Akhil Sharma, Varun Singh, Meet Kaur, Urvashi Sharma, Anjali Sharma and dance choreographed by Aakash and party.
The instrumentalist who accompanied the programme are Kamal Sharma, Sumit Sharma-Vikas Nagar, Karan Malhotra, Robin Kumar, Ramit Sharma, Sunil Sharma and Rajiv Sharma.
The stage management and comparing was conducted by Vijay Atri.
