JAMMU, Mar 9: Ashiq Bukhari, Chief Executive Officer of Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) today flagged off J&K Physically Challenged Cricket team for participation in All India National Tournament, which is being organized at Noida by All India Physically Challenged Cricket Association.
While flagging off the team, CEO JKCA Ashiq Hussain Bukhari advised the players to enjoy the Cricket, play in a cohesive unit and perform well in the All India National matches.
He appreciated the role of Rajesh Gill former Ranji cricketer of J&K for regularly conducting cricketing tournaments and arranging the participation of J&K team in different national tournaments.
He assured the former Ranji player for all help on behalf of JKCA in conducting international cricket series between India and Afghanistan of specially abled cricketers at Jammu. He also complemented the players of the J&K Team who were selected for this tour and conveyed his best wishes for their future.
Rajesh Gill apprised the CEO that the open trials were conducted at Green Belt Cricket Ground Jammu for the selection of J&K team wherein total 35 cricketers from different districts of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir which included Jammu, Samba, Reasi, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Shopian and Pulwama participated.
He also apprised that about 26 states shall participate in the national level tournament. The tournament will commence from today while J&K team will play its first match on March 11.
Team: Mohd Nadeem (Captain), Jagmohan Singh (Vice Captain), Vivek Sharma, Vaishno Dev Singh, Firdous, Ranjeet Singh, Ravi Kumar, Aman Sharma, Jahangir Ahmad, Iliyas Ahmad, Azaj, Younus Ahmad, Anayat Manzoor, Ajaz, Sohail and Nikhil Sharma. Abhishek Sharma accompanied the team as manager and coach.
Prominent dignitaries including Vinod Khajuria, Qaiser Mirja, Ravinder Singh Slathia (District Cricket President) and Madan Mohan were also present during the event.
