JAMMU, Jan 4: Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) Pune outplayed Devi Ahliya University Indore by nine goals to two 9-2 goals, thus won the match by a big margin of 7 goals in the women’s section of the ongoing Inter University Roll Ball Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Anjali Nair of Pune was the top performer, scoring highest five goals for her team.
In the men’s section, Anna University Chennai beat the Gandhigram Rural Institute Deemed University Tamilnadu by 11-3 goals. Athul Suresh, K.Vishnu and K Chander Kumar scored two goals each for the team.
In another match, ITM Gwalior defeated MDU Rohtak by 4-3 goals. Devi Ahliya University Indore lost to University of Kerala by 1-2 goals, while in the last match of the day host University, the University of Jammu trounced MGU Kottayam by 13-3 goals.
Rakshak Jandial, Brigu Sharma and Arjun Dev Jamwal contributed maximum goals for the team.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu was the chief guest, who interacted with the participating players along with Prof Avtar S. Jasrotia, Organizing Secretary and Director Sports JU.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Neeraj Sharma, HS Chib, Vikas Karlopia, Jai Bharat, Madhu Sharma, Sudhir Singh and PD Singh.
The matches were officiated by MP Subramanyam, Jyoti, Sunil Thomas, S Hemat Singh, Vikram Rathore, Chandereshwar, Prem Nath, Ramesh Singh, Simran and Nagender Singh Negi.
