Selection Matches of Physically Challenged Cricketers for WC conclude

JAMMU, Apr 23: Organising sports activities for specially-abled sportspersons, who make disability their ability, brings an ecstatic feeling to one’s mind and helping such sportspersons to perform at the higher levels is simply a pious job.
This was stated by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JKCA, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari while distributing prizes as chief guest among the specially-abled sportspersons during the valedictory function of the Selection Matches of Physically Challenged Cricketers for the World Cup at GGM Science College Cricket Ground, here today.
He said the need is to pat, encourage and uplift these sportspersons to make them blossom at the national scene, adding that watching them perform is really a delight to watch.
Earlier, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, former Judge and Member JKCA in his speech advocated for the affiliation of J&K Physically Challenged Cricket Association with JKCA analogous to District Units, which was later-on endorsed by the CEO himself.
Mr Jamwal presided over the function, while RK Bhat SSP; Surinder Lohia, Vice President All India Physically Challenged Cricket Association and Ravi Chouhan, Secretary General All India PCCA were the guests of honour. Sukhjinder Singh, Director of J&K PCCA and Ashish Singh, Vice President of J&K PCCA were the special guests.
Selection Committee Members including former Ranji Trophy Players namely Mukesh Arya (Haryana), Prasad Desai (Mumbai), Deepak Yadav (Mumbai) and Rohit Jhalani (Rajasthan) were also present on the occasion.
President J&K PCCA, Rajesh Gill and Secretary J&K PCCA Rajesh Dhar were the Coordinators of the event.
The Selection Matches for the Physically Challenged Cricketers for picking the Indian team for participation in the World Cup was jointly organized by J&K Physically Challenged Cricket Association and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
In the final, Martyr Raj Tilak XI defeated Martyr Ramesh Yadav XI by 28 runs.
Batting first, Martyr Raj Tilak XI scored 113 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Yash Pal top scored with 23 runs, while Satpal contributed 22 runs and Sanjay chipped in with 14 runs. From Martyr Ramesh Yadav XI, Mohit, Raju, Swapnil and Gurpreet claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Martyr Ramesh Yadav XI managed to score 85 runs in 11.4 overs to lose the match by 28 runs. Waseem Iqbal top scored with 30 runs, while Swapnil and Raju contributed 15 and 10 runs to the total respectively. From Raj Tilak XI, Yashpal took 3 wickets, Mani and Rohit took 2 wickets each while Satpal claimed 1 wicket. Yashpal was declared as the man of the match, while Waseem Iqbal was adjudged as the best batsman and Yashpal as best bowler.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill presented welcome address and highlighted the activities of the Association, while Surinder Lohia and Ravi Chouhan also spoke on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Rajesh Dhar, who also presented vote of thanks.
A welcome song presented by renowned singer of Bombay DJ, Naveen enthralled the audience on the occasion.
