Kavinder, Awtar inaugurate event

JAMMU, Oct 9: Inter-Frontier Competitions in the disciplines of Judo, Gymnastics, Wushu and Taekwondo 2018, being organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier got underway at Hargobind Bhatnagar Stadium, BSF Paloura Campus, here today.
Around 900 Sportspersons of all Frontiers of Border Security Force, including some national level players namely Sarbjit Singh (Judo) and others are participating in these Competitions.
Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, who declared the Competitions open in an impressive, colourful and well attended function.
The Competitions began with an Oath Ceremony, followed by a variety of cultural programmes organised by BSF personnel and children.
Ram Awtar, IG BSF Jammu Frontier while speaking on the occasion said that as an elite Force, BSF lays extra stress on games and competitions of different disciplines as a regular part of its day-to day functioning. “Inter Frontier Sports Competitions are organized as Force level sports tournaments where potential young talents are selected to be put through intensive coaching at respective places of concentration under seasoned coaches. These competitions provide a healthy platform for BSF sportsmen to exhibit their rare talent and skills to be further groomed for National and International championships,” added Mr Awtar.
Addressing a huge gathering, Kavinder Gupta accentuated that quality performances are expected in this BSF Inter-Frontier Sports Competitions-2018 and the players selected out of this Competition will certainly make a mark in the National and International Competitions in the coming years.
Impressive ‘Khel Gaon’ has been established within the BSF campus at Jammu for participating sportspersons with facilities for boarding, lodging, recreation and entertainment as well as medical support.
The ongoing Competitions will conclude on October 12, 2018.
