POONCH, Dec 2: Baba Bana Singh Bahadur (BSB) Hockey Club today won an exhibition hockey match by defeating Boys Higher Secondary School by a solitary goal (1-0).
The goal was scored by Rasmeet Singh.
The match was organized by Sikh Noujwan Sabha under the presidentship of Gagandeep Singh in collaboration with Hockey Coach Matinder Pal Singh and NIS Coach Ranveet Singh.
The match was organized in the memory of Shaheed Waryam Singh who scarified his life in 1978 agitation for the people of Poonch. SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral was the chief guest while President Municipal Council Poonch Advocate Sunil Sharma was guest of honour.
In his address, Sunil Sharma appreciated the efforts of organising committee for remembering the sacrifice of late Waryam Singh.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Poonch said that Poonch has huge sports culture and youth of Poonch must continue this tradition in future also.
Proceedings of the match were conducted by Vijay Kumar (PET). Among those who were present on the occasion were Prem Parkash Luhtra, Bakshi Khem Raj, Dr Sukhwinder Singh, S Kamaljeet Singh, S Damanpreet Singh, Kewal Krishan, family members of Late Waryam Singh and large numbers of hockey lovers.
