Botingu Bhat XI lifts Wular Premier League title

SRINAGAR, June 3: In yet another initiative towards boosting & harnessing the sporting talent of local youth in the area, Wular Premier League—a T-20 Cricket Championship was organised under the aegis of Chinar Corps by Watlab Garrison.
The championship was aimed to promote local talent and strengthen the bond between Army and people.
The cricketing fest was conducted with effect from April 29 to June 3, 2016. 24 teams from Baramulla, Bandipora and Handwara divided into four pools participated with overwhelming zeal and enthusiasm.
The prize money for the finals were Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for the winners and runners-up respectively.
The keenly contested final match was conducted between Watlab A and Botingu Bhat XI. The match witnessed the sporting prowess and cricketing acumen of the local youth. Botingu Bhat XI   lifted the Champions Trophy by beating Watlab A by 29 runs.
The final match was attended by youth and prominent citizens like Sarpanches, Teachers, Zonal Education Officer and other Army officials including Commander, Watlab Garrison.
In addition, a number of locals were in attendance to support and cheer for their respective teams.
The players and locals were enthusiastic on the commitment of Army in supporting local talent and helping nurture the sporting acumen of the youth.
