JAMMU, Feb 9: Riding on Bismah Hassan’s magnificent 81 runs and Nadia Chowdhary’s 4-wicket haul, Jammu and Kashmir crushed Manipur by a big margin of 140 runs in the ongoing Women’s Under-23 One Day Trophy at Revenshaw University Ground-1 Cuttack in Odisha.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Jammu and Kashmir scored a big total of 243 runs in the allotted 50 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Bismah Hassan top scored with 81 runs off 78 balls, studded with 13 boundaries, while skipper Tanisha Sharma contributed 32 runs to the total and Rudrakshi Chib made 26 with 4 boundaries. Rifat Choudhary, Nadia Chowdhary and Heena Kouser contributed 16, 13 and unbeaten 10 runs to the total respectively.
From Manipur, L Linthoi scalped 3 wickets by conceding 34 runs in her 10 overs, while Niruka claimed 2 wickets. Kiranbala and Preety shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Manipur bundled out for 103 runs to lose the match by 140 runs. Skipper Linthoingambi Rajkumari top scored with 28 runs, while Preety and Kalpana contributed 28 and 26 runs to the total respectively. For J&K, Nadia Chowdhary was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 4 important wickets by conceding 22 runs in her 10 overs, while Ananya Sharma bagged 2 wickets by giving away 14 runs in her 3.5 overs. Bismah Hassan, Heena Kouser and Rifat Choudhary shared 1 wicket each.
The J&K team is being accompanied by Payal Choudhary as manager, Neeru Manhas as coach, Surekha as trainer and -Chetna Dogra physio, while the team has been selected by the JKCA selectors namely Anju Gupta (Chairman), Anuradha, Ravinder Kour, Qurat and Sayima Rashid.
