Bijbehara Sports Club thrashes Kashmir Strikers Sozeith in WPL

SRINAGAR, Nov 4: The Wular Premier League (WPL) today culminated after Bijbehara Sports Club (BSC) beat Kashmir Strikers Sozeith (KSS) by 4 runs.
The match was played at Sheikh ul Alam sports ground and the winning team was paid a cash award of Rs 2.25 lakhs by the organisers.
Bijbehara Sports Club batted first and made 178 runs in 20 overs.
Kashmir Strikers Sozeith chased well, but could only make 174 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
Aquib Mir, the young captain of BSC was declared Man of the Match while as Javid Jadu received the Best Bowler award and Touseef Khan bagged the Man of the Tournament award.
Almost 5000 spectators had thronged Tarzoo to witness the WPL final match and the presence of star cricketer Parvez Rasool at the venue who was also playing for Bijbehara Sports Club (BSC) attracted more people
Parvez Rasool said that he was inspired by the beautiful playground at Tarzoo and he wished national and international cricket matches would be played at Tarzoo.
The event was organized by Sports Association Tarzoo.
Noted cricketer Abid Nabi and Ex Ranji Player Nisar Khanday were also present at the event.
Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat was the chief guest at the event. He along with Chairman Sports Association Tarzoo, Shamsudin Wani, ex-Chief Engineer Ghulam Qadir and Abdul Subhan Lone (Patron) gave away trophies to the winning and runner up teams.
Winning and runner up teams were given a cash award of Rs 2.25 lakhs and 1.20 lakhs respectively.
Man of the Tournament received Rs 40,000 cash award and Man of the Match was given a cash award of Rs 20,000.
The best batsman, best bowler and best wicketkeeper were paid Rs 5000 each by the organizers.
