JAMMU, Jan 6: A big win by an innings and 27 runs over formidable Jharkhand, fetching 7 points, has made Jammu and Kashmir among favourites to qualify for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy this season.
With this win, Jammu and Kashmir is at number 3 spot in the points table with 20 points, behind Odisha (22) and Haryana (21) points at first and second spot respectively.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 103/4 Jharkhand bundled out for 155 runs to lose the match by an innings and 27 runs. Nazim Siddiqui top scored with 37 runs, while Ishan Jaggi and Uttkarsh Singh contributed 34 and 29 runs to the total respectively.
For Jammu and Kashmir, medium pacer Aquib Nabi was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 5 important wickets by conceding 38 runs in his 10.4 overs, while left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq and speedster Mohammad Mudhasir bagged 2 wickets each and Umar Nazir claimed one wicket.
The match was played at ISCA International Sports Complex, Ranchi in Jharkhand.
