Bhat, Nazir complete 430 km cycling expedition

JAMMU, Aug 17: General Manager of Jamkash Vehicleades Kashmir, A R Bhat and Nazir Ahmad Wani from Srinagar completed a 430 km cycling expedition from Srinagar to Leh in three days.
The duo started their journey on August 13 and successfully completed the expedition by reaching Leh on August 15. During the journey, the cyclists covered a total distance of 430 kilometres from Srinagar to Leh in three days.
On the first day, they completed from Srinagar to Drass (141 km), while on the second stage, they covered a distance of 134 kilometres from Drass to Buddh Kharb and in the third and final stage, the riders covered a distance of 154 kilometres from Bodthkharbu to Leh.
During the expedition the duo passed through different high altitude passes like 12,139 ft Namika Pass, 13478ft Fotu La pass which is one of the highest point on the way to Leh-Kargil highway. Meanwhile both the riders are senior members of Jammu & Kashmir Mountain Biking Association.
President JKMBA Riyaz Wani and secretary Asif Bhat hailed the efforts of both the riders for completing the 430 km expedition.
It was very difficult for us to ride for 430 km at this altitude of 13478 ft but our daily practice proved to complete all distances. I am thankful to Nazir Ahmad for giving the company right from Srinagar to Leh and completing the expedition,” A R Bhat said.
