JAMMU, Oct 9: Bharti Sharma from Government Degree College (GDC), Akhnoor bagged the first prize in Poster Making of the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental, Poster Making and Clay Modelling Competitions conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent” 2012-13, here today.
Rahul Kumar from Govt General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi and Rimpla Kumari from Post Graduate Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, were adjudged as the Second and Third, respectively.
Bandana Devi from Govt Degree College, Akhnoor and Dechan Angmo from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, were awarded the Certificates of Merit.
The topics for the Poster Making Competition were “Social Rigidity Leads to Honour Killing”, “Avoid Accidents, Stop jumping the Traffic Lights”, “Drug Abuse” and “Child Labour” while the subject for the Clay-Modelling were “Father and Child”, “Any Game” and “Any Geometrical Composition”.
TS Batra, Dr ML Sharma and Anil Saraf, were the adjudicators for the Poster Making event whereas the panel of experts for the Clay-Modelling Competition included Ganesh K Sharma, Brij Pal Anand and Vikas Dogra.
In Clay Modelling, Bharti Devi from Govt College of Education, Jammu, was adjudged as First whereas Ashima Sharma and Divya Bandral both from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, bagged the Second and Third Prize, respectively.
The certificates of merit were awarded to Supriya from Post Graduate Department of Economics, Shikha Singh from Post Graduate Department of Mathematics and Rimple Kumari from Post Graduate Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.
Dr Sarika Manhas, Department of Home Science, was the Teacher-in-charge for the Poster Making event whereas Dr Lalit Sen from the Department of Computer Science & I.T, for Clay Modelling competition. Both made the participants acquainted with the Rules and Regulations of their respective activities.
The programme was compeered by Divya Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council and Vaibhav Sharma.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the Chief Guest on this occasion and distributed the prizes amongst the winners in presence of Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare and Prof Neeru Sharma, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee.
Both the events were supervised by the Anshu Bala, Harmeet Kour, Joint Secretaries, SCC, Ashish Attri and Suresh Singh, members, Students Cultural Council.
