Bhalla inaugurates 2nd Jammu Tawi T20 Tournament

JAMMU, Apr 29: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture and Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla inaugurated the 2nd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament as chief guest in a well attended function at MA Stadium, here today.
Member BCCI and chairman JKCA Media Committee, Ranjeet Kalra was the guest of honour.
The Tournament, in which 20 teams drawn from Jammu City and adjoining areas are taking part, is being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club, under the supervision of the organizing committee including chairman, Raja Vivek; president, Sanjeev Sharma; vice president, Neeraj Gupta; advisor, Manjeet Singh Bedi and organizing secretary, Shashi Paul.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lavished praise for the organizers for holding this event and said that such activities apart from promoting sports, help youth not to derail from the mainstream.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural match of the Tournament, KC Sports Club thrashed Khalsa Cricket Club by 6 wickets in an easy contest.
Earlier, batting first, Khalsa Cricket Club scored a fighting total of 155 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Harpreet Singh top scored with 53 runs off 37 balls, studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Mincal and Harinder Pal Singh contributed 47 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For KC Sports Club, Abhishek was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 3 important wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 3 overs, while Ajay took 2 wickets and  Abhishant and Vivek claimed one wicket each.
KC Sports Club, in reply, chased the target in 18.3 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Arjun Choudhary played a brilliant innings of 63 runs off 30 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Amrit Pal Singh contributed 39-ball 46 runs including 7 boundaries. Abhishant and Jagteshwar chipped in with 15 and 13 runs respectively. Rohit, Mohit and Amanpreet claimed one wicket each for Khalsa Cricket Club.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Sohail Yousuf as umpires, while Bunty Kumar was the scorer.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Rajesh Dhar, convener technical committee, while prominent among others present on the occasion were Officers of State Sports Council Rajan Sharma and Ravi Singh, besides former Ranji trophy player, Rajesh Gill and senior cricketer Sandeep Singh.
