BGSBU holds girls’ Badminton, Basketball matches

RAJOURI, May 13: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organised girls’ Badminton and Basketball matches on campus, reaffirming its commitment towards promoting sports culture, physical fitness and women empowerment among students.
The event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Jawaid Iqbal, who also inaugurated the newly established basketball court at the university. Girl students enthusiastically participated in the inaugural basketball match played on the new court.
He appreciated the sporting spirit and active involvement of students in extracurricular and sports activities. He highlighted the importance of sports in developing confidence, discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among young women. He also stressed the significance of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and urged students to stay away from drugs and harmful substances, stating that sports and constructive activities are essential for building a healthy and progressive society.
The Vice Chancellor also attended the final match of the Girls’ Badminton competition and praised the participants for their dedication and competitive spirit. Among those present on the occasion were Dr Radha Gupta, Chief Warden (Girls’ Hostels); Dr Mamta Bhat, President, Athletics Club (Girls); Dr Shahnaz Anjum, President, Badminton Club (Girls); Ankita Runani, President, Basketball Club (Girls); Ruksana Thaker, Warden, Girls’ Hostel; Shweta Puri, Warden, Girls’ Hostel and Rakesh Singh Sambyal, Incharge, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
