BFD lists title trophy of Chenab Circle Inter Division T-20 Cricket Tournament

Bhadarwah, Nov 17: Bhadarwah Forest Division (BFD) clinched the title trophy of Chenab Circle Inter Division T-20 Cricket Tournament by defeating Doda Forest Division.
The final of the 4 day long tournament in which 8 teams of Chenab region participated was sponsored by J&K Forest Department Chenab Circle and was played at sports ground PG College Bhadarwah today.
On the occasion Principal Chief Conservator Forest (PCCF) J&K Suresh Chugh was the chief guest, while Chief Conservator Forest (CCF) Jammu Sameer Bharti, Principal PG College Bhadarwah Prof SS Balwal and Conservator Forest Chenab Circle Doda TB Singh were the guests of honour. The tournament was coordinated by DFO Bhadarwah Khalid Amin Mehta and assisted by Ranger Officer Killar Zafarrullah Sheikh, while proceedings of felicitation function were conducted by educationist Arif Hamid Rana.
The final match was played between Bhadarwah Forest Division (BFD) and Doda Forest Division (DFD). After winning the toss, BFD elected to bat and scored 208 in the stipulated 20 overs. However, DFD managed only 137 runs in 20 overs.
Touqeer Malik of BFD, who scored 94 runs in just 29 balls and took 1 wicket was declared as Man of the Match and Shafqat Khakhan was declared as Man of the Tournament for his all round performance.
“It is heartwarming and encouraging seeing that despite militancy in Kashmir, Bhadarwah depicts a different picture all together symbolizing peace, harmony, love for sports and concern for their environment”, said Suresh Chugh, PCCF J&K.
“I got encouraged and feeling motivated to see the involvement of not only the sleuths of Forest Department but youth of this beautiful valley. Elated by the response we received here, now I would love to extend similar experiment in border districts of Poonch and Rajouri as well”, said Sameer Bharti, CCF Jammu.
Beside presenting, trophy and medals to the winner and runner-up teams, officials of different departments were also felicitated for extending their support to make this first ever cricket tournament organized by Forest Department in Chenab Valley a big success.
Prominent among those who were present during felicitation ceremony include social activist Imtiyaz-ur-Rehmaan Jaggu and ADC Bhadarwah Dr Ravi Kumar Bharti.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by DFO Khalid Amin Mehta.
