KATRA, June 9: Wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police, resident of Basantagarh, Udhampur lifted 9th Annual Kawa (Udhampur) Kesari Dangal Title 2017 by defeating Wrestler Maana, Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police, of Zirkapur Akhara (Chandigarh) in the 1st malli bout that lasted for 21 minutes at Government High School Kawa, near here.
The Dangal was organized by Kawa Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha.
Former MoS and MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council presided over the function, while Raj Kumar Buccha and Sunil Badyal were the guests of honour.
The first main bout (Ist Malli) Winner Benia Min was cash awarded with Rs 31,000 by Pawan Kumar Gupta, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Dugra Dass Padha, while runners-up Wrestler Maana was cash awarded with Rs 20,000 by Raj Kumar Buccha, Sunil Badyal and Varinder Sharma.
The 2nd main bout was fought between Dinesh of Zirkapur (Chandigarh) and Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House, Udhampur. This bout ended in a draw that lasted for 21 minutes. Both the Wrestlers were jointly awarded with a cash prize of Rs 11,000.
