JAMMU, June 8: Splendid display of batting and bowling skills by first-class cricketer Bandeep Singh helped Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) to drub Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) by 41 runs in the semifinals to seal berth in the finals of the ongoing Salute and Tribute to the Players T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, KCCC powered by a murderous knock of 49 runs off 23 deliveries, studded with 2 fours and four sixes by Bandeep Singh, scored a decent total of 161 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Bandeep hit the rival bowlers with utmost ease, sublime touch and fluidity. Vimarsh Kaw scored valiable 36 runs off 31 balls including 3 fours, while Pardeep Bali, Manik Gupta and Raman Dutta contributed 23 runs each. For JCC, Deepak Dogra, Vishwajeet Singh, Aditya and Jatinder Singh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JCC, despite a brilliant knock of 29 runs by Vishwajeet Singh bundled out for 120 runs in 18.3 overs, thus losing the match by 41 runs. Vishwajeet was the top scorer with 29 runs which included 4 boundaries, while Sandeep Singh and Deepak Dogra contributed 20 and 18 runs to the total respectively. Paras Sharma chipped in with 5-ball 15 runs, studded with 2 fours and one maximum. For KCCC, young pacer, Akash Choudhary and Bandeep Singh bagged 3 wickets each, while Raman Dutta took 2 wickets. Manik Gupta and Tribhuvan claimed one wicket each. Bandeep Singh was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and JD Singh as umpires, while Ajay Sharma acted as the scorer. Harsh Nayyar is organizing secretary of the tournament.
The final match of the tournament will be played between KCCC and Simula XI on June 16, 2013.
