JAMMU, June 8: Third group of Himalayan Trekking Programme comprising of 40 students of MHAC School, Nagbani, Jammu left today for Moungri to participate in the Trekking cum Adventure Programme, being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K.
Alok Betab, Principal of the School flagged off the group in a well attended function.
ML Dogra, a teacher of the school and a veteran of Himalayan trekking programmes also accompanied as the overall in charge of the group.
Meanwhile, the first group of trekkers of SOS Hermaan Gmeiner School have reached back after a thrilling experience.
During the 3-day venture, the students in the age group up to 14 years trekked to the sacred Shiv Parvati cave on the first day and had an introduction of mountaineering equipment and its use by Everester Ram Singh Slathia, Director of the programme.
On the second day, the budding trekkers enjoyed another 5 km trek, through calm and cool pines to reach the top point which commands a panoramic view of the Pir Panjal range.
The 4th group comprising 40 students of Shiksha Niketan Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu will leave for the trek on June 10, 2013.
