POONCH, Dec 6: District Level Inter-Zonal AAG (Boys & Girls) Athletic Meet, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, got underway at Pritam Stadium, here today.
About 1000 students of 11 zones of District Poonch will participate in the event, which was declared open by Colonel Jaswinder Singh (93 Infantry Brigade) in presence of Lieutenant Colonel, Sanjay Yadav, Mohd Qasim, In-charge DYSSO Poonch and all ZPEOs of the concerned zones.
In under-14 boys, Sahid Azeem of zone Mankote claimed gold in long jump, while Tahir Ahmed of Buffliaz bagged gold in javelin throw and Saqlain Mustaq of Surankote won gold medals in shot put and discus throw.
In under-19 boy’s long jump, the gold medal went to Saquib of Mendhar, while javelin throw gold medal was clinched by Mohd Afridi of Kanuyian and Shahjahan Kanuyian clinched gold in discus, besides Irfan of Poonch secured gold in shot put.
Vijay Kumar (PEM) was the stage secretary of the event, while the event was conducted with the help of concerned PELs, PEMs, PETs and ReKs.
