JAMMU, Jan 9: Jammu and Kashmir outshined during the 102nd Session of Indian Science Congress being held at University of Mumbai, Mumbai.
Arushima Pankaj, a class IX student from Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu was awarded the prestigious INFOSYS-ISCA Award by Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India during the inaugural function of Children Science Congress of 102nd ISC at Mumbai.
Every year five students from all over India are selected for this prestigious INFOSYS-ISCA award based upon the evaluation of a write up on topic “What Scientific invention/discovery in last two years have influenced you and why”. The award is instituted by the INFOSYS Foundation and is awarded in form of a Silver Plaque and Certificate. Apart from this the awardees are also invited by the Indian Science Congress Association to attend Indian Science Congress and interact with top scientists of India and abroad.
This year Arushima from Presentation Convent was adjudged first and was awarded this prestigious award. Aditya Atmakuri of class XII from Delhi secured second position while third and forth positions were clinched by Anubhav Kumar and Sakshi Singh students from Kanpur. Five more students were also awarded certificates only.
While interacting with the awardees and other students Dr Kalam said that inventions and discoveries have emanated from creative minds that have been constantly working and imaging the outcome in the mind.
“If one has an aim in life, continuously acquire the knowledge, work hard with confidence to win and have the confidence to defeat problems and succeed with righteous heart, you will definitely succeed in all your missions”, said Dr Kalam.
