Arun Deep bags gold as J&K wins 4 medals in Sport Climbing

JAMMU, June 25: Arun Deep Singh and Ajay Deep Singh kept the State flag flying high by winning gold and silver medals on the last day of the IMF All India Bouldering and Lead Climbing Competition which concluded at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.
While Arun Deep bagged gold, Ajay Deep Singh clinched the silver medal in Bouldering competition in the boys category. Both these climbers had entered the final round by securing first and the sixth positions in the semi final.
“Arun Deep, a strong climber who finished at the sixth spot in Lead Climbing the other day, was in sublime form today and completed his climbs gracefully to bag the gold medal. Similarly, Ajay also gave a good account of his climbing abilities in the final round and clinched the silver medal,” informed General Secretary of J&K Mountaineering Association, Ram Khajuria.
Over all it was an excellent performance by the five member State team which won two gold and an equal number of silver medals, he added.
The State team was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
