Artists body demands financial assistance

JAMMU, May 26: In order to discuss the plight of artists and those connected to this line, a meeting of All Artists Association (AAA) was held today in which prominent artists participated and discussed the difficulties being faced by majority of them during the lockdown.
In the meeting, it was pointed out that due to lockdown, the cultural activities have come to a complete standstill with many financially poor artists and others connected to the line have been hit hard monetarily. “They need immediately financial help enabling them to make both ends meet during the tough time,” stated a spokesperson of the Association.
During the meeting, it was also highlighted that the payment on account of programs conducted by various artists has been pending for years together in the Doordarshan Jammu and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu and demanded that their payment be released immediately.
AAA appealed the Government to provide financial assistance to all the artists and also those connected to the field as immediate relief for their survival.
Those artists who attended the meeting included Dharminder Kohli, Tilak Raj Tagotra, Surinder Manhas, Rakesh Anand, Romesh Singh Chib, Ram Pal, Aditya Bhanu, Sahil Mahajan etc.
