Army’s Kabaddi League inaugurated

DODA, Sept 17: To promote the traditional Indian sports and to groom raw talent of far-off villages in the hills, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit based at Doda inaugurated Doda Kabaddi League at Sports Stadium, here today.
16 teams from different villages of Doda district will take part in the 4-day long tournament, the final of which will be played on September 20, 2017.
Hundreds of students and Kabaddi enthusiasts besides officers and Jawans of RR witnessed the high profile opening ceremony and inaugural match which was played this afternoon at Sports Stadium.
The tournament in which 192 players from the length and breadth of District Doda are participating was inaugurated by CO RR Doda
“Army is providing world class infrastructure in this tournament, as to avoid injuries and give an international feel to the players, Synthetic mate is being used for the first time in Chenab Valley,” said an Army Spokesperson.
Participants up to the age group of 20 years and with maximum weight of 65 Kg are participating as per the rules of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.
“The event aimed at to providing the right platform to budding talent and to promote Kabaddi as a professional sport in Chenab Valley,” CO, RR Doda.
