Army organises Pir Panjal Knights Premier League

JAMMU, Oct 29: Pir Panjal Knights Premier League, a mega sports event was organised by White Knight Corps for the youth, both girls and boys in the remote areas south of mighty Pir Panjal mountains.
The event had commenced on September 1, 2014 in the districts of Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and tehsil Akhnoor, wherein cricket matches for boys and inter-school kho-kho for girls were organised.
The aim of the event was to encourage sports activities, create competitive spirit amongst the youth especially girls, build confidence and identify talent for representation at State and national level.
This event was a huge success wherein 68 teams of Cricket and 44 teams of kho-kho enthusiastically participated in the matches for the period of two months. The boys and girls displayed tremendous team spirit to come out and play the games which was appreciated by the locals of the remote villages.
The conclusion of Pir Panjal Premier Knights League will be conducted in February 2015 at Zorawar Singh Memorial Stadium, Reasi wherein the teams selected will play for the Championship trophy.
Army was ably supported by the civil administration, sports department, schools, village heads and the locals, thereby highlighting the unity in diversity as a binding factor towards peace and progress.
