APS Udhampur wins Northern Command Football Championship

AKHNOOR, July 29: Scripting a win in penalty shootouts over hosts Army Public School (APS) Akhnoor, APS Udhampur lifted the title trophy of the 2-day Northern Command Inter-School Football Championship played at Army Public School ground, here.
The Tournament was inaugurated by Col CS Sharma and Col AK Sharma, Director AWES NC, while Zonal Physical Education Officer, Sher Singh was also present on the occasion.
Total six teams from Northern Command Schools participated in the event.
Earlier, on Day-1, APS Akhnoor defeated APS Srinagar by 2-1 and APS Nagrota by 2-0, while APS Udhampur outplayed APS Rakhmuthi by 5-0 and APS Dhar Road by 5-2.
In the 1st semifinal, APS Akhnoor drubbed APS Nagrota, while APS Udhampur got better of APS Dhar Road.
On Day-2, the final match was played between APS Akhnoor and APS Udhampur, wherein APS Udhampur emerged winner via penalty shootouts.
Chairman, Brig Gautam Segan lauded the efforts of the players for their brilliant performances.
Principal KCS Mehta, Col CS Sharma and Lt. Col JS Pawar distributed prizes among the winners and the runners-up teams, besides coaches and officials.
