Ansari, Lal Singh honour winners

JAMMU, Apr 3: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today said that Government is committed to promote multi-sports events with equal gender split to facilitate male as well as female players of the State.
Minister for Forest, Ecology, and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh was also present on the occasion besides President Hockey J&K, Kanta Andotra, Director Forest, Ecology and Environment, OP Sharma Vidyarthi and other officers of BSF were present on the occasion.
The event was organized by Hockey J&K with sponsorship from J&K State Sports Council in which 16 teams from across the state participated.
Ansari in his address said that that government is working firmly to provide modern sports infrastructure including development of day and night sports arenas, activities, synthetic and athletic turfs in the state.
He also said that government is also providing platforms for sports aspirants to provide them opportunities to achieve their goals.
Further, he informed that new Astroturf will be provided at Srinagar and Jammu to give boost to sports activities in the state and to hone the hidden talent of the youth.
Lal Singh while speaking on the occasion commended the players for their performance. “These players are role models for all, especially youth and everyone should take inspiration from them”.
He further said sports improve a person’s well being, make them tolerant, courageous, imbibe leadership qualities and makes aspirants versatile in every field. He said that being a diverse nation, sports paves way for cultural and national integration besides producing young sportsman for the nation.
