KATRA, Apr 21: The 3-day Resurgence: Annual cultural and sports festival of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) concluded with a bang in the Matrika Auditorium, here.
The Vice Chancellor SMVDU, Prof Sudhir K Jain was chief guest on the valedictory function, while Dr A K Das, Coordinator of Resurgence presented report of the festival.
Competitions for several forms of music, dance, theatre and art were organized during the festival.
In the Inter-University competitions, SMVDU won 1st prize in movie making competition, while NIT, Srinagar won 1st prize in street dance event.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Trophy for the best house was presented by the Vice-Chancellor to Agni House of SMVDU for their performances in both sports and culture.
Best talent in culture prize was given by Dean of Students, Dr Yugal Khajuria to Medhavi Sharma.
Prizes for several intra-university competitions in sports and culture were also given in the valedictory function.
Cultural secretary, Anup Kumar presented vote of thanks.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Jain expressed satisfaction at the multifarious activities organized during the festival and underscored the importance of such youth festivals which inculcate a spirit of organizational abilities in students.
