Anju, Sarla, Bushra help J&K to thrash Chhattisgarh by 8 wkts

JAIPUR, Jan 2: Magnificent display of cricketing skills by Anju Devi, Sarla Devi and Bushra Ashraf helped Jammu and Kashmir to thrash Chhattisgarh by 8 wickets in the ongoing BCCI’s Senior Women T20 League at Rajasthan Cricket Association ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, Chhattisgarh scored a modest total of 112 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Yashi Pandey was the top scorer for Chhattisgarh, who scored brilliant 52 runs, while Deepika Tiwari and Anupriya Mandal contributed 24 and 15 runs respectively. For J&K, Bushra Ashraf was the most successful bowler, who bagged 2 important wickets, while Sarla Devi and Sandhya Sayal claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K rode on a brilliant knock of 67 runs by Anju Devi and a superb innings of unbeaten 35 runs by Sarla Devi to chase the required target in 17.4 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Both the batswomen were in awesome touch and hit the ball with fluidity and grace. Anju scored the runs in 58 balls, studded with 11 boundaries, while Sarla hit 4 fours in her knock. Nusrat chipped in with 7 runs, while Ankita Jalla was unbeaten on one when J&K chased the target.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Kanaya Lal Koul, Abida Khan and Anju Gupta as manager, coach and in-charge respectively.
The office bearers of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association have congratulated the players and the support staff for this splendid victory.
