Aman, Shweta top Jammu Duathlon in open category

JAMMU, Oct 30: Aman Gupta and Shweta Mittal topped in male and female open category of 3rd Edition Jammu Duathlon 70.3 respectively, organised by Jammu Hill Sports Club and powered by AM TATA, here today.
A total of 135 athletes from Jammu participated in Duathlon 70.3 and Olympic Distance category, wherein some of the finest athletes braved the tough conditions and made their city proud by performing above their potential and excelling in the respective Duathlon.
Sonia Sawhney from Women Do Ride stood first, Dr Ritu Ahal remained 2nd and Megha Jain – from Ludhiana came 3rd in the above 40 years age group.
Determined to win, 135 athletes gathered at the Shiva Farms Jammu to participate in the 3rd edition of the Jammu Duathlon-2022 which consists of running and cycling -the usual format is run-cycle-run. It kick-started at 4 am with flag off the event, done by Elite Runner Ram Paul Kapoor.
The participants of the Duathlon started with 2 km running, 90 km cycling and then finished with running leg 21kms with final cut off time being 8:30 hours, while Olympic distance started at 6:00 am with flag off the event done by Balvinder Singh (Goldy) and Elite Runner Vijay Sharma, wherein the participants started with 1.5 km running, 40 km cycling and then finished with running leg 10 kms with final cut off time being 4:30 hours.
The cycling and running course was challenging, with some good climbs and quick descents, the participants pushed themselves towards the finish line. The JHSC had set up aid points at every kilometre throughout the route for hydration and refreshments.
