Akhnoor Zone enters U-17 Cricket final; APS Miran Sahib boys, SOS girls emerge winners in U-17 Hockey

JAMMU, May 24: Players continued to exhibit their talent in various disciplines of Inter Zonal District Level Competitions, being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at different places.
JAMMU: Inter Zonal District Level Competition in the discipline of Cricket under-14 and 17 boys begins at GHS Jammu Cantt, while Inter School District Level Competition in the discipline of Hockey for under-17 boys and girls at KK Haku Stadium Jammu concluded.
In under-14 Cricket, Satwari Zone beat Jammu Zone by 18 runs. Batting first, Satwari Zone made 92 runs by losing 2 wickets in 12 overs. Dhrub was the top scorer with 28 runs and Aditya contributed 23 runs to the total. From Jammu Zone side, Akshit took 1 wicket. In the second inning, Jammu Zone made 74 by losing 4 wickets in 12 overs. Akshit made 27 runs and Areen scored 18 runs. For Satwari Zone side, Kannav scalped 2 wickets.
In under-17 Cricket, Satwari Zone thrashed Jammu Zone by 3 wickets.
Batting first, Jammu Zone scored 89 runs by losing 4 wickets in 12 overs. Masaif was the highest scorer with 35 runs and Yuvraj made 24 runs. From Satwari Zone side, Aditya took 2 wickets. In reply, Satwari Zone chased the target by losing 7 wickets in 11.2 overs. Vinayak made 16 runs, Himmal scored 13 runs and Aditya chipped in 12 runs. From Jammu Zone side, Praful scalped 2 wickets and Tandan took one wicket.
The matches were officiated by Anju Gupta, Jasbir Singh, Saleem-ul Rehman, Jagtar, Satika, Farooq, Madan Mohan, Mukesh Sharma, Sadiq Hussain, Anil Sharma, Sunil, Rajesh & Suresh Singh.
In under-17 Hockey final (boys), APS Miran Sahib beat SOS via tie breaker by 4-2 goal, whereas in under-17 girls final, SOS registered win over Presentation Convent School by straight 2-0 goals.
The matches were officiated by Harvinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Ravinder.
AKHNOOR: Akhnoor Zone registered win over Bhalwal Zone by 7 wickets and registered berth in the final of the Inter School Under-17 Cricket Tournament, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bhalwal Zone scored 76 runs by losing 7 wickets in 10 overs. Samarprit made 36 runs, while Parth scored 29 runs.
From Akhnoor Zone side, Shubham scalped 2 wickets, while Stifen took one wicket.
In the second inning, Akhnoor Zone chased the target by losing 3 wickets in 7.3 overs. Stifen Sorta was the top scorer with 42 runs and remained not out, while Suresh made 11 runs.
From Bhalwal Zone side, Parth, Sagar and Aditya scalped one wicket apiece.
Stifen Sotra of Akhnoor Zone was adjudged as Man of the Match.
The match was officiated by Suresh Singh and Rajesh Chowdhary.
ZEPO Sher Singh, Sham Singh Langeh, Coach, Jagdev Singh, PEM and Deepak Sharma, teacher were also present on the occasion.
REASI: Trikuta Shiksha Niketan defeated Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Salal in a nail biting final match of District Level Inter School Tennis Ball Tournament for under-17 boys at General Zorawar Sports Stadium, here today.
Electing to bat first, Trikuta Shiksha Niketan put 78 runs on the board in the stipulated 8 overs. Sushil Thakur scored 27 runs and remained not out.
In reply, GHSS Salal gave very tough fight but could manage to score only 77 runs and lost the match by just one run. Amandeep Singh of GHSS Salal scored 41 runs and remained the top scorer of the match.
The selected players will became the part of district team after undergoing coaching camp before their deployment for Divisional Level Inter-School Tournament.
The match was officiated under the guidance of panel of experts including Pardeep Nag, Kuldeep Raj, Opinder Pal, Avainash Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Rahul Bakshi and Arun Dev Singh.
KISHTWAR: Minister of State for Transport, Youth Services and Sports inaugurated Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament at historic Chowgan ground for under-14 and 17 boys and girls. Among others present were DYSSO Dewan Chand, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, DySP DAR Kishtwar Manoj Kumar and other prominent persons of District Kishtwar.
