Inter-zonal U-14 Wrestling meet concludes

JAMMU, May 15: The inter-zonal district level boys competitions of Jammu in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Cricket got underway at different venues here under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
However, the Wrestling under-14 meet concluded today with winners of respective weight categories selected for the next level of inter-district competitions.
Earlier, during the day, senior officers of the DYSS, Madan Lal (Joint Director) and Chanchal Kour (district officer Jammu) visited different venues and interacted with the participating teams and players.
KHO-KHO: The Kho-Kho competition got underway at Government High School Jammu Cantonment here.
The Results: Under-14: Miran Sahib drubbed Dansal by one inning and one point; Bhalwal trounced Khour by three points; Arnia beat Chowki Choura by three points; Bishnah go the better of Satwari by six points; Marh beat Jourian by seven points; RS Pura beat Gandhi Nagar by one point; Miran Sahib beat Jammu by three points; Akhnoor outplayed RS Pura by three points. Meanwhile, in under-17 category, Bhalwal zone reached the semifinals. The Results: Quarterfinal: Bhalwal zone bt RS Pura by two points. Preliminary Round: Jammu beat Zone Dansal by two points; Gandhi Nagar beat Bishnah by two points; Chowki Choura beat Jourian by one point; Akhnoor beat Miran Sahib by three points; Arnia beat Satwari by one point.
VOLLEYBALL: Under-17: The volleyball under-17 competition held at High School Jammu Cantonment. The Results: Jourian beat Bhalwal by 2-1; Dansal beat Satwari by 2-0; Marh beat Zone Bhalwal by 2-0; Khour beat Miran Sahib by 2-0; RS Pura beat zone Jammu by 2-1; Gandhi Nagar beat Chowki Choura by 2-0. Meanwhile, in Volleyball under-14 age group, Akhnoor Zone and Bhalwal zone qualified for the semifinals. The Results: Quarterfinals: Akhnoor bt Dansal by 2-1 and Bhalwal bt Gandhi Nagar zone by 2-1. Preliminary Round: Dansal got walkover R S Pura; Chowki Choura bt Miran Sahib by 2-0; Jourian bt Marh Zone by 2-0; Gandhi Nagar bt Satwari by 2-0.
CRICKET: In cricket under-17 category, Akhnoor Zone and Khour Zone won today’s scheduled matches at Parade ground, here. The Results: Akhnoor beat zone Arnia by 32 runs and
Khour beat RS Pura by seven wickets.
WRESTLING: The inter-zonal competition in Wrestling took place at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here under the guidance of technical penal. The Results: Under-14: 35 Kg: Sukhvinder Singh of Zone Bhalwal, Ist. 38 Kg: Rohit Bhagat of Zone Satwari, Ist. 41 Kg: Munish Singh of Zone RS Pura, 1st. 44 Kg: Mohd Shabir of Zone Miran Sahib, 1st. 48 Kg: Mohd Aslam of Zone Bhalwal, 1st. 52 Kg: Farman Ali of Zone Miran Sahib, 1st. 57 Kg: Ansar Khan of Zone Bhalwal, 1st. 62 Kg: Mohit Kumar of Zone Bhalwal, 1st. 68 Kg: Lovejeet Kaith of Zone Marh, 1st. 75 Kg.: Udhay Partap Singh of RS Pura, 1st.
KABADDI: The boys’ under-14 Kabaddi competition held at MA Stadium. The opening day witnessed preliminary round with teams qualifying for the quarterfinals stages. The Results: Zone Satwari beat Arnia by 22 points; Miran Sahib beat Zone Bhalwal by 01 point; Zone Bishnah beat Zone Marh by 18 points; Zone Khour beat Zone Chowki Choura by 25 points; Zone Jourian beat Zone Dansal; Zone Jammu beat zone Ganhi Nagar by 30 points.
