Abhishant, Ankush steal show; Fazil, Jatin, Samad’s efforts go in vain

JAMMU, June 27: Abhishant Bakshi slammed a swashbuckling ton and Ankush Bandral spun web around the rival batters and captured 7 wickets to guide their respective teams to convincing victories, while fantastic efforts by Jatin Wadhawan, Fazil Rashid and Abdul Samad went in vain in the ongoing JKCA Senior Men’s One-Day Tournament, being played at four different venues across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, today.
The performances of Aquib Nabi, Tanveer Ahmad, Irfan ul Haq, Nadaf, Ritik Singh, Sufiyan Ahmad, Sunil Kumar and Abid Mushtaq were also good to see on day-3 of the tournament today.
At Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, JKCA A5 defeated A2 in a low scoring match by 3 wickets.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA A2 bundled out for a meagre total of 90 runs. Gourav Manhas (25) and Manish Dogra (15) were the main scorers. Left-arm spinner Ankush Bandral was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 7 wickets by conceding 23 runs. He hit good areas and was bang on target from the word go. Fast bowler Yudhvir Charak also took 3 wickets by giving away 34 runs.
In reply, JKCA A5 chased the target by losing 7 wickets to win the match by 3 wickets. Sunil Kumar top scored with 36 runs, while Ahtsham contributed 12 runs to the total.
For JKCA B2, Rohit Raina bagged 3 wickets, while Rohit Sharma claimed 2 wickets.
At GGM Science College Hostel Ground Jammu, JKCA A1 defeated A3 by 21 runs in an exciting context.
Put into bat, JKCA A1 rode on a splendid knock of 140 runs by Abhishant Bakshi scored a big total of 307 runs. Abhishant displayed sublimity and grace and showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a magnificent century. Nawaz Rather (46) and Abid Mushtaq (39) were among other major contributors. Ritik Singh continued his fabulous form with the ball and took 3 wickets, while Ramdayal claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, JKCA A3 scored 286 runs to lose the match by 21 runs. Jatin Wadhawan top scored with 88 runs off 86 balls, while Abdul Samad contributed power-packed 77 runs off 49 balls to the total.
For JKCA A1, Amandeep Singh took 4 wickets, while Abid Mushtaq, Sunil Kumar and Saksham took 2 wickets each.
At Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Ground-A Srinagar, JKCA B1 defeated B4 by 58 runs.
Batting first, B1 scored 218 runs in 45.5 overs. Sufiyan Ahmad (41) and Kashif Ayoub (39) were the main scorers.
For JKCA B4, Mujeeb Nadaf took 4 wickets and Suhail Rashid bagged 3 wickets.
In reply, JKCA B4 managed to score 160 runs to lose the match by 58 runs. Asif Ramzan (38) and Asim Bashir (35) were the main scorers.
For JKCA B1, Tanveer Ahmed captured 4 wickets and Sharif Shafat claimed 2 wickets.
At Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Srinagar, JKCA B5 scripted a thrilling 1-wicket victory over JKCA B3 in a high scoring match.
Batting first, B3 scored a huge total of 322 runs. Fazil Rashid played a brilliant innings of 87 runs, while Adil Zahoor contributed 60 runs to the total.
For B5, Feroz and Asmat Fayaz took 3 wickets each.
In reply, B5 chased the target in 49.1 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process, thus registered a thrilling win by 1 wicket. Amir Sofi scored magnificent 77 runs, while Aquib Nabi contributed valuable 51 runs to the total. For B3, Irfan ul Haq took 4 wickets, while Nasir Ahmad Bhat bagged 3 wickets.
