AACL concludes different competitions with grand finale

JAMMU, Oct 19: The Department of Culture through J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (AACL) and Directorate of School Education Jammu concluded a series of singing, dancing and visual art (painting/drawing) competitions as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav (AKAM) with grand finale, here today.
The competition was organised under the guidance of Zubair Ahmad, Commissioner Secretary (Department of Culture), and Bharat Singh, Secretary (AACL).
Chronologically, the competitions were held at school, zonal, and district levels before finally concluded at the divisional level. The key thematic areas for the competition were: Patriotism, Cleanliness, Plantation, Peace, Truth and Nonviolence and Indian Culture.
From Rajouri district, Bhoomi Manhas of HS Sakri won the singing competition; Nishika Sasan of Bharat Public School, Sunderbani won the dance competition and Sahiba Talib from Modern Educational Institute HSS. Dhangri won the painting competition.
From Udhampur, Anju Devi of MS Thildu won the singing competition, Sona Malhotra of GMS Bashorian won the dance competition and Tanya Devi from GMS Nagrota won the painting competition.
From Jammu, Varun Bhagat of Jammu Sanskriti School won the singing competition, Radhika Sharma of GPS. Thathrian won the dance competition, and Tanvi from GMS Chak Bana won the painting competition.
From Reasi, Priyanka Devi of PS Dharmandhar won the singing competition, Anu Devi of GMS Sunarian won the dance competition and Ankit from MSDIET won the painting competition, while from Kathua, Pardeep Faklou of PS Sandar won the singing competition, Akshara Bhagat of MS Chanjal won the dance competition and Aashvi Singh from Spring Dales won the painting competition.
From Samba, Vashu Sharma of PS Jasath, Lavanya Singh of UPS Nonath and Meensha Kushwa from GPS Kour Slarian won singing, dance and painting competitions respectively, while from Poonch, Ehshal Asif Manhas of Illahia Public School, Shukriti Sharma of Nanak Academy and Aliya Farook from Bagdadia Institute won singing, dance and painting competitions respectively.
From Ramban, Asiya Aiyaz of HS Sumber won the singing competition, Atiya Wani of GMS Maitra won the dance competition and Aliya Fatima from GPS Chanderkote won the painting competition.
From Doda, Divya Sharma of Govt UPS Sisool won the singing competition, Manveer Kotwal of Govt PS Delha Galli won the dance competition and Nikhil Sharma from NPS Bari won the painting competition, while from Kishtwar, Samridhi Sen of SDM Public won the singing competition, Taveshi Anand of Kidzee Goodwill won the dance competition and Arika Fatima from Iqra International School won the painting competition.
All the district-level winners from their respective categories competed for the “winner” and the “runner-up” positions in the grand finale at Jammu.
In singing, Samridhi Sen of SDM Public Kishtwar stood as a winner and Ehshal Asif Manhas of Illahia Public School Poonch, was declared the runner-up. In the dance category, Taveshi Anand of Kidzee Goodwill Kishtwar stood winner and Manveer Kotwal of Govt PS Delha Galli Doda remained runner-up.
In painting, Aashvi Singh from Spring Dales English School Kathua stood winner and Ankit from M.S.D.I.E.T. Reasi remained runner-up.
At the grand finale, the jury for the singing competition included Sunaina Jaad, Sunil Raina and Bahadur Singh, while for the dance competition, the jury comprised Ravi Sharma, Bhavna Sharma and Anuradha Seth and Rohit Verma, Rakesh Sharma, Ankush Kesar were the jury for the painting competition.
Three winners from three categories at the divisional level grand finale shall receive Rs 20,000 each and runner-ups shall get Rs 10000 each, while District level competitions, three winners from three categories shall receive Rs 5000 each and runner-ups will get Rs 3000 each, and three second-runner-ups shall receive a cash prize of Rs 1000 each.
