DDC declares open Inter-College Sports Festival

DODA, Mar 4: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode declared open Inter-College Sports Festival being held under the banner of Department of Higher Education J&K at Govt Degree (PG) College Bhaderwah, here.
The DDC inspected the contingents from the participating colleges amidst interaction with the team managements and Principals of the colleges.
Principal of the host college Dr Kuldeep Sharma presided over the inaugural function who in his welcome address threw light on the event and also welcomed the participants.
DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode was the chief guest and ADC Bhaderwah Rakesh Kumar was the guest of honour, CEO BDA Bhaderwah Rajinder, Principal GDC Doda Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, besides other Principals and staff of GDCs and other schools were also present on the occasion.
As many as eight colleges of erstwhile Doda district including host PG College Bhaderwah, GDC Doda, GDC Kishtwar, GDC Chatroo, GDC Khilotran, GDC Thatri, GDC Ramban and GDC Banihal are participating in different events in this three day first of its kind event at GDC Bhaderwah.
The competition will be held in various indoor and outdoor sports events of Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Table Tennis and Tug of War in which both men and women sections participated.
The event was coordinated by Zakir Ali (Director Physical Education), Dr Wahied Khawar Balwan, Assistant Professor Zoology who presented the report on achievements of college in sports and Sports Committee headed by Prof Naz Zargar and supported by Prof Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Davinder Kumar, Prof. Umar Din, Prof N K Manhas, Prof Surinder Parihar, Prof Manzoor Ahmed, Prof Prithvi Raj and other staff members from teaching and non teaching cadre.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Bal Krishan of Zoology Department and Prof Pinki Kotwal of Physics Department, who were assisted by Cadets from NCC and Volunteers of NSS besides college sports students under guidance of Physical Education Director Zakir Ali and Sports Committee Convener Prof Naz Zargar.
