No dearth of talented cricketers in J&K: Slathia

VIJAYPUR, Sept 7: Appreciating larger participation of youth in various sports events, former Minister and Senior State Vice President National Conference, Surjeet Singh Slathia exuded confidence that talented players of Jammu and Kashmir will fine-tune their capabilities and make mark in national and international events.
Mr Slathia said this while declaring open Samba Premier League Cricket Tournament at Gurha Slathia here this afternoon.
The former Minister said that holding of such tournaments will help in identifying talent, so as to polish and prepare them for bigger events. He lauded the enthusiasm among the budding cricketers and hoped that such competitions will place them in good stead to face the competitive world with vigour and confidence.
The opening match of the Samba Premier League Cricket Tournament was played between Nathwal Eleven versus Garh Madi Eleven.
In all, 32 teams are participating in the tournament.
Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia wished the participating teams and players success and hoped that budding cricketers of the area and adjoining villages will benefit from the experience of the talented cricketers.
Prominent among those present included Roopali Slathia (Lecturer Physical Education), Abida Khan (Lecturer Physical Education), besides Ex-Sarpanches Raman Slathia, Mohan Lal, Isher Singh, Darshan Choudhary, Bhagwan Dass, Subhash Chander, Sodagar Gupta City President NC
The organizers included Jatinder Slathia, Makhnu Mangleshwar Singh, Akhil Slathia, Shubham Slathia, Sokeah Slathia, Sandeep Singh and Sudershan Singh.
